You Most Certainly did
live.
He was born on December
18, 1942, and died in a Boston Hospital, surrounded by his Family
on October 25, 2017.
"I was born
without tubes attached to me, and I am going out with any of them
on either." You see, he suffered from sugar diabetes, but he
would eat whatever damn-well pleased him. One week before he was
stricken with near total systems' collapse, he had invited former
St. Mary's Alumnae and other friends to dine with him at the
famous "Daniel Webster Inn", in Falmouth, MA...where he
had his summer residence. "What happened? How can he be
hospitalized, gravely ill, when we had a great time with him just
last week.He looked great!
He was very involved
with his town's government...having served in 20 various elected
and non-elected offices. He was proud to be dedicated to his
Family, to his local town, to the Catholic Church, and to the US
Army. He is the only person that I know that was buried above
ground, in a crypt, with an engraved photo of himself in the
front, and an epitaph on the back. It read: "After all the
battles which he fought for, it was time that finally put
him here; and after all his good services to Humanity, Life goes
on as though he never existed."
Butch
Rich! As long as we, who knew and loved you have breath...we
miss you and pray that we shall reunite once again. And as one
local journalist described you: "Butch, you were one of a
kind. There'll never be another one like you...and we will be the
poorer for it."
